Top 10 Moments of 2013

Another year has come and gone and with all the top 10 lists
that everyone puts out at this time of year, I thought I would add ours to the pile.

So here are the Top 10 Moments of 2013 for our family, kind of in order but maybe not really.

I know this is really not a good moment but the Calgary Flood of 2013 has to make the list because it taught me so many things. It was such a good reminder that the most important things in life are family and friends and not stuff. Because stuff can be easily lost and often can be replaced while family and friends can not be. It also showed me the wonderful side of humankind as so many went out and helped complete strangers in their hour of need. It also helped me truly appreciate the wonderful advantages we have in life such a electricity, something we use every single day and yet we don't often stop and think how lucky we are to have it.

Going to family reunions, I'm always so grateful when we can make it out to see our extended family. It is always so wonderful to catch up with family that we have not seen in a while.

Our 3rd Anniversary trip to a little piece of heaven called Nakusp. A gorgeous little town hidden away in British Columbia. Visiting there has starting us dreaming of retiring in a place like that.

A simple moment but Mike buying me a pedal bike to replace my motorbike that we had to sale. We were still able to go on a lot of bike rides together just a little slower then Mike had originally in visioned.

Learning how to ride a motorbike, I may have only been able to ride it once before learning I was pregnant but it was so fun and I'm so glad I got to go for a ride with Mike. It really was a dream come true and I can't wait till I can do it again some time in the future.

One highlight for Mike this past year was when his father finally bought himself a motorbike. Mike was so excited to go on a few rides with him before the weather changed. And I know he is looking forward to many more rides with his father in 2014.

Going on maternity leave.  I was so done with work as I'm sure any of my co-workers could tell you and I'm glad that I had the time to get ready for our little baby.

Mike graduating and becoming a Journeyman/ Red Seal Carpenter. I'm so proud of him and all the hard work he put in to his schooling so he is able to support our little family.

Finding out we were pregnant. Nothing could express our joy and happiness when those little two lines showed up.

At 20 weeks pregnant being told that finally things were okay with the baby and that we no longer had anything to worry about. I go into more detail about in my post about our pregnancy, but it was a great relief that we could finally throw that weight off and just enjoy being pregnant.  I feel that was our best moment of 2013.

2013 has been a really good year for us. It was full of a lot of simple moments but they were still moments that brought us a lot of joy and happiness.  I'm so grateful that I got to spend this year with my best friend and husband by my side and I look forward to many many more years with him by my side.  He is my greatest supporter and always know how to cheer me up and show me the brighter side to life.

I'm looking forward to what 2014 will bring. And where our little family will grow by one.

Happy New Year!

A Birthday and Christmas

Over the past few weeks we have had a lot to celebrate.

First being my wonderful husband's birthday. Which we celebrated his way by doing nothing! He doesn't really get the whole celebrate a birthday thing, to him it is just another day. (truth be told he feels that way about most holidays) Anyway, we spent most of his birthday watching whatever he wanted to, which equaled mostly car shows and the Superman Movie "Man of Steel". And ordering in from our favorite East Indian restaurant. I did still make him a cake, one just can't go a birthday without some sort of special treat. All in all I think he enjoyed his very low key relaxing birthday.

One year Older and Wiser too!

Next up, Christmas! Which was wonderful. Christmas day we spent the morning together just Mike and I. We did our little gift exchanged and laughed as we watched ours dogs try and open their little gifts. I couldn't help but think of next Christmas when our little baby girl will be with us and we get the joy of watching her opening her Christmas gifts. I really can't wait.

Then we went over to Mike's parents and spent the rest of the day with Mike's family. There we got to have some wonderful family time and we greatly enjoyed watching our little nieces and nephews play with their Christmas gifts.

And of course we held true to Mike's time honored Christmas tradition of watching "The Muppet's Christmas Carol". Always a most do in our household.

It really was a lovely day and I really enjoyed the time we spent with family.

Mike's Family
With Christmas Mike and I take turns on who's family we spend Christmas day with, this year it was Mike's family's turn so what we would normally do is go up around the New Year to spend time with my family. But with it been pretty close to when baby could be making her entrance, I really didn't feel comfortably driving up this year.

So instead my family were able to drive down and spend some time with us. Which was really lovely. Again when I think about it we didn't really do much, just spend time together as family, played a few games, and watched a few movies. Really just some low keys things, and yet I really enjoyed our time together and was so glad that they were able to all come down and see us.

My family

We really had really enjoyable Christmas holidays and we are so fortunate that we could spend it with our families.
